Statira is an equity partner with ALMT Legal. Statira began working whilst she was perusing her law degree in 1996. During her initial years in practice she gained experience in a variety of fields including corporate commercial law, intellectual property, information technology law and tax law.
Statira’s corporate practice is mainly focused on general corporate and transactional corporate work and includes advising on acquisitions, joint ventures, asset transfers, mergers, slump sales and private equity transactions. Statira’s tax experience includes advising clients on GST, cross border tax issues such as withholding tax, permanent establishment, transfer pricing, and characterization of software payments for various international clients. Statira also has experience in intellectual property rights and has advised clients, inter alia, on strategies for protecting their IP, structuring of IP of group companies, and protection, licensing and assignment of software. On the data protection front, Statira advises clients on legal implications of data privacy breaches and how to ensure compliance with data protection laws.
During her years of practice, Statira has represented a wide range of clients from multinational corporations to domestic companies and promoters across a range of sectors including information technology, e-commerce, retail, manufacturing, and healthcare.
Statira is a member of several international associations and is an officer of the Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Committee at the prestigious International Bar Association. Statira has also been on the editorial board of a legal newsletter for over 5 years and has several published articles to her credit. She has also authored articles for international publications and been a panelist at various international tax seminars.
Legal 500 2022 Edition has recommended Statira for corporate M&A, private equity and investment funds, IP, taxation, and TMT (Technology, Media and Telecommunications). She has also been recognised as a ‘Highly Regarded Lawyer’ for private equity and M&A by IFLR 1000 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019 Edition.
