Rob heads the Crime team at ABV Solicitors.
He is a Solicitor Advocate with over 25 years of experience in the Criminal Justice System and also sits as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates Court)
He represents clients on the whole range of criminal cases including, murder, manslaughter, HMRC investigations, drugs offences ranging from possession to importation, internet and cyber-crime, harassment and blackmail, violent and public order offences, and road traffic offences. He is also a specialist in representing those facing sexual offences.
Rob is instructed to represent Individuals facing investigation and prosecution by their Regulatory Bodies.
Rob represents those facing extradition to Europe and the US.
He represents individuals accused of criminal offences from the investigation stage and those charged and appearing in both the Magistrates and Crown courts. He is proactive and will often seek to prevent cases reaching court by engaging with authorities pre charge or at an early stage.
He has represented clients in the most high profile and complex criminal cases in the country. He works alongside some of the country’s leading KC’s, barristers, and experts.
Rob is tactically astute and has a meticulous approach to preparing cases. His reassuring manner ensures that clients feel secure in his representation and are best able to engage and contribute to providing the best defence.

Rob has extensive advocacy experience in the Magistrates court and also represents clients in the Crown court.

R V M
Represented the co accused in the high profile Benjamin Mendy trial at Chester Crown court. Numerous allegations of rape and sexual assaults involving multiple complainants. Client acquitted of all allegations at trial.
R v SPL
Represented a female defendant of previous good character in relation to allegations of conspiracy to murder and assisting an offender at the Old Bailey in London. Client acquitted of all offences.
R V L
Represented a Defendant accused of the murder of a woman in her home, which was said to have been covered up by setting the house on fire whilst two children and the defendant were in the house. The matter proceeded to trial but the jury were unable to reach a verdict at the original trial. The client was subsequently acquitted at his re trial.

This case involved two young defendants charged with manslaughter and arson, who set light to a piece of paper in a derelict house causing the death of a homeless person who had been using the building. A difficult case involving youths aged 14 and 16 years

This defendant faced one count of rape. The complainant’s account was that she was very drunk and believed at the time she was having sexual intercourse with her husband. Her husband had been asleep next to her. The defendant maintained that the sexual intercourse was consensual. The defendant was acquitted after a trial.

Represented a Music label executive accused of sexually assaulting a brand designer following a work event. He was unanimously acquitted following trial.

Represented a father who faced a number of allegations of sexually assaulting his son between the ages of 18 months and 6 years of age. Through a robust examination of the evidence and unused material a number of material inconsistencies in the account emerged resulting in an acquittal at trial.

Represented a former Metropoltan Police Detective charged with historic familial sexual assaults upon underage relatives. Case required international witness enquiries. Client acquitted at trial.

This case was a high profile Dangerous Driving charge resulting from the National Express Coach Crash on the M4/M25, which caused 3 deaths and injuries to over 50 passengers which included amputations. The case required expertise in a large – scale accident reconstruction and detailed analysis of scientific reports provided by leading experts in the field. Witness enquiries across the UK.
R v A
Represented a Company Director who faced allegations of s18 GBH. He punched a man in self-defence causing the man to fall and hit is head causing long term brain damage. Initially it was known whether he would survive the injury. Following on from arrest, ABV obtained additional evidence and made written representations resulting in No Further Action against our client.

Represented US national of good character, charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place. Following detailed analysis of case, written representations were made to the Crown Prosecution Service resulting in the case being discontinued.
R V CLINTON (JON-JACQUES) REPORTED CASE [2012] EWCA CRIM
Represented defendant accused of murdering his wife after he was subjected to numerous taunts, including suggestions of infidelity. The defendant was represented by another firm and convicted after raising a new partial defence of ‘loss of control’ which was withdrawn from the jury by a Judge. ABV Solicitors took over conduct for the appeal when the conviction was quashed and the court of appeal ordered a re-trial. The client subsequently pleaded to murder before the re-trial and received a reduced sentence. The case is now the leading authority on “loss of control” in murder cases.
