Luis is the most recent partner to join our team. As an attorney and notary, he contributes with his more than 30 years of experience in competition law, as well as intellectual property law, including trademarks, patents, trade secrets and copyrights. He also has ample experience in mercantile and real estate law. Besides his professional experience, he has worked in Banking and Finances and Risk Management and Corporate Compliance, having been an active participant in the Costa Rican financial and banking sector since the year 2013, occupying positions within the boards of directors of the Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, BICSA, and BN Valores.
He graduated from the Law School of the University of Costa Rica in the year 1991, with the Academic Degrees of Associate and Bachelor’s in Law.
Has been a university professor at the Inter-American University of the Americas and an active participant in a wide number of Interinstitutional commissions for the management and protection of Intellectual Property in Costa Rica. During his years as member of the Board of Directors of the Administrative Board of the National Registry, he represented Costa Rica at the General Assemblies of the WIPO in Geneve, Switzerland.
He is currently an active member of the Costa Rican Bar Association (CACR) and in the past was a member of the Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Commission. He is also a member of the Costa Rican Association of Professionals in Intellectual Property (APPICR), of the Costa Rican Institute of Notary Law (ICODEN), of the International Trademark Association (INTA), and the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI).
He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
