Kei Kimura is a partner at Daiichi LPC and the head of the Cross-Border Transactions practice in the Tokyo Office. He initially specialized in M&A, corporate litigation and general corporate matters, and later expanded his practice to international transactions such as cross-border joint ventures, in-bound/out-bound company set-up, IP license agreements and distribution/agency agreements.
After obtaining an LL.M. in Taxation at Georgetown Law in Washington, D.C. and a Diploma in Tax Policy at Harvard Kennedy School in Boston, Massachusetts, he has created transaction/entity structures considering tax efficiency to maximize clients’ benefit. In handling tax practice, he has also developed a strong network of Japanese Tax CPAs necessary to handle tax planning and tax returns before Japanese tax authorities.
Kei was seconded to the largest Asian/Singaporean law firm, Rajah & Tann, a major U.S. law firm, Foley and Lardner, a major Indian firm, Nishith Desai Associates, where he gained significant experience in cross-border transactions among Asia, the U.S. and Japan. He also provides support to international clients about data privacy issues such as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliance.
Kei passed the Japanese Bar in 2005 and the New York Bar in 2015.
