Always looking for the best solution
After having worked at several leading law firms for a large number of years, we wanted to set up an excellent, not too large, specialist law firm of our own.
A firm with short lines of communication and a personal approach by experts who translate complicated legal disputes into practical solutions. All this at competitive hourly rates. We wanted to be an alternative to large specialised firms. That is what inspired us to set up VMBS Advocaten in 2006, which is now known under the name of Law&Pepper Advocaten.

“I think it is important to give a client proper advice. That does not mean presenting them with a list of options, but giving advice with a concrete direction. That is something a client can benefit from.”
Persuasive representative of interests
Since 2008, Frank Laagland is partner/owner of Law&Pepper Advocaten, and he specialises in financial law and insolvency law. Clients can turn to him for clear and immediately applicable advice that has been formulated brief and to the point, and is carefully based on substantive pros and cons. Frank is positive, persevering and has great communication skills. Clients regard him as a persuasive representative of their interests.
Career
Frank studied Dutch law in Nijmegen. In the final year of his studies, he left for England to attend a postgraduate programme in EU Law at the University of Essex. He completed both studies in 1996 and started with a general practice at a law firm in the vicinity of Amsterdam.
Two years later, he went to a medium-sized firm in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, where he specialised in financing, security and insolvency law. In 2001, he continued his specialisation at a top 10 firm in Eindhoven. He was also receiver at both firms.
In 2005, the need for further development led him to the Special Credits directorate of one of the four largest banks in the Netherlands, where he devoted his attention to helping companies in difficulties during his work at the Special Financing Support department.
Specialisation and active at FIP
Frank has taken many specialist courses, including the course in security and financing for banks at Grotius Academy, which he graduated from cum laude. Moreover, he is editor at the legal magazine on financing, security and insolvency practice (FIP).
Register of practice areas
In the register of practice areas of the Netherlands Bar Association, Frank has registered the practice areas of financial law and insolvency law. To maintain this registration, according to the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association he must obtain ten training points in each registered practice area every calendar year.
