The Polish branch of DLP Dr Lewandowski & Partners was established in order to provide effective legal consultancy to clients, especially foreign companies entering the Polish market, along assisting Polish clients in cross – border activities throughout Europe. Biography: Dr. Robert Lewandowski, co-founder and managing partner of DLP Dr Lewandowski & Partners in Poland

The Warsaw and the Wrocław offices are headed by Dr. Robert Lewandowski, who has previously worked for major legal firms in Warsaw and London and who has written many legal books and taught university courses in English, German and Polish.

School attendance: 1974 – 1984 in Warsaw/ Poland.  Education 1984 – 1986:  Study of mathematics and German philology at the University of Warsaw, a degree in German philology. In the period of 1992 – 1996 study of law at the University of Mainz / Germany. 1996 passing First legal examination. 1997  PhD thesis.  1998 passing Second state legal examination in Mainz/Germany.  

Work experience: 1992 academic work for Professor P. Allen at the University of Concordia, Canada. From 1993 until  1996 research assistant for the chair of criminal law for Professor J. Krümpelmann at the University of Mainz, Germany. 1997 – 1999 traineeship in Rheinland – Pfalz /Germany.  Project leader at the German Foundation for International Legal Co-operation in Bonn / Germany.  Enrolled in the list of German attorneys in Frankfurt am Main (2000). 2001 – 2005 lawyer at Gleiss Lutz in Warsaw/Poland including a secondment to Herbert Smith in London. 2006 independent lawyer in Warsaw in co-operation with Derra, Meyer & Partners. Enrolled in the list of Polish attorneys in Warsaw (2009). Dr Robert Lewandowski co-founded the Polish branch of DMP Derra, Meyer & Partners and during the last ten years, he has overseen the establishment and development of the two Polish offices while practising and advising clients in his position as the senior figure.

The Polish branch of DLP Dr Lewandowski & Partners is a  well known and established legal firm offering a comprehensive range of services and legal advice fully tailored to our Polish and International clients demands and expectations. We specialise in assisting foreign clients to enter the Polish business sector and offer our expertise regarding the setting up and acquisition of subsidiaries, representing foreign clients in litigation cases before Polish state and arbitration courts and enforcing (cross–border) judgment. Our multi-lingual staff provides services in Polish, English, German and Russian and we are one of the very few legal firms based in Poland to provide legal advice in Italian and Spanish as well.

Recently we have been successfully involved in a number of cases with an international flavour. We have advised a Chinese construction giant in setting up a Polish subsidiary and assisted them in entering the lucrative Polish market of road building, sports stadia and shopping mall investment. Additionally, we have represented Warsaw City Council during negotiations with UEFA regarding the staging of the 2012 European Football Championship in Poland and Ukraine.

Furthermore, we have advised international volleyball stars from Germany, Italy, Spain and Slovakia during negotiations with their clubs and brokered contractual dispute settlements. We have been acted on behalf of relatives of Jewish families in accessing Polish archives in order to procure documentation and to establish restoration claims. Currently, we are advising companies seeking to establish biogas plants in the lucrative sector of renewable energy which is of high interest to new investors as the Polish government introduced new favourable laws to boost this area.

In 2010, we established an Italian desk, managed by Avvocato, Silvio Di Dea and in 2015 a Spanish desk managed by Abogato Kamila Markowska, lawyers with relevant experience in Polish and Italian/Spanish legal affairs, in particular within the fields of commercial and corporate law.

We pride ourselves on offering our clients a fully comprehensive professional service on the local Polish market while simultaneously providing multi-lingual advice in order to assist a whole range of nationalities in their preferred language. This allows us to be of service to large corporations while also maintaining the personal touch with individual clients.
