Treesistance Impact Report 2024: Together We’re Making A Difference

At IR Global, we believe in the power of collective action to create meaningful change. That’s why we’re proud to support Treesistance, a movement dedicated to protecting the Amazon Rainforest and championing Indigenous rights.

The 2024 Treesistance Impact Report is a testament to what can be achieved when communities, organisations, and individuals unite to safeguard our planet.

Key Achievements in 2024
2024 was a transformative year for Treesistance, with incredible milestones achieved despite unprecedented challenges. Here’s a look at the highlights:

500,000 Hectares Protected: Forest Guardians now actively defend 11 Indigenous territories across three Brazilian states.

Legal Wins: Successful actions held soy farmers in the Lower Tapajós accountable, setting a precedent for protecting Indigenous lands.

New Initiatives: The launch of a Water Guardians program in January 2025 will protect 160km of coastline along the Tapajós National Forest.

Green Energy Fund: A €500,000 fund, created in partnership with Greenchoice, supports renewable energy solutions for Indigenous communities.

Secure Communications Network: The first encrypted communications system connecting nine Indigenous territories was developed, enabling real-time monitoring and law enforcement collaboration.

Innovative Partnerships: From satellite monitoring to low-tech solutions, Treesistance is harnessing cutting-edge technology to combat illegal deforestation.

Empowering Indigenous Communities
At the heart of Treesistance are the Forest Guardian groups, made up of Indigenous peoples, educators, and students. These groups receive comprehensive training from Chief Dadá and his team in the Maró Indigenous Territory, equipping them with the tools to monitor and protect their lands.

In 2024, new Forest Guardian groups were formed in key regions, including the Lower Tapajós, Mato Grosso, and Acre. These groups are not just protecting rainforests—they’re defending a way of life and a future for all of us.

We are proud that a number of IR Global member firms sponsor Forest Guardian units, providing essential funding and resources to empower Indigenous communities. By supporting Treesistance, we’re aligning our network’s commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility with a cause that truly matters.

Looking Ahead
The fight is far from over. In 2025, Treesistance is expanding its efforts to:

  • Scale up territorial protection and biodiversity conservation.
  • Launch fire brigades to address increasing droughts and forest fires.
  • Strengthen collaborations between Forest Guardians, law enforcement, and the judiciary.
  • Support sustainable economic development through art, design, and agroforestry initiatives.
