Measures to facilitate the participation of workers in the May 12 elections

The holding of elections to the Parliament of Catalonia on Sunday, May 12, and the elections to the European Parliament on May 9, may affect the work activity of some companies. The usual thing in these cases is to seek a compromise, or a balance, between facilitating the participation of workers in voting and the normal development of business activity. In this sense, although it is a right of workers to enjoy paid leave to vote, it is also true that the organizational capacity of business activity corresponds to the employer.

To facilitate this balance of rights, the DOGC on April 19 published Order EMT/79/2024 with the necessary instructions so that workers can take part in the elections in Parliament (instructions that are usually the same in each electoral appointment, except regarding the deadlines for permission to vote by mail).
