Employment Rules for Job Agencies to Be Stricter

The President of the Czech Republic is about to approve a bill amending the Employment Act and related legislation, namely the Labour Code and the Act on Work Inspection. The bill toughens the employment rules for jobs obtain through agencies and introduces sanctions for those which aim to violate them. If an agency attempt to perform their mediation activities via a different legal entity and, thus, break the rules, severe penalties may be imposed.

Yet another change to the status quo is the introduction of the deposit of CZK 500,000 which needs to be paid when the job arrangement permit is applied for.

Also, holding the post of a legal representative will be subject to stricter rules – it may only be assumed on condition that the physical person in question (except one being a /member of/ the company’s statutory body) is employed with the number of working hours higher than 20 hours a week.

Furthermore, the terms of prohibition of discrimination as defined in the Labour Code are specified in more detail by the new bill.
