#IRBOSTON24 Roundup

We’ve recently returned from Boston – one of the most dynamic cities in the US –  where we hosted our ‘On the Road’ conference. Over 180 members from all over the world were welcomed to the luxurious and historic Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel.

A big thank you once again to our headline sponsors:  Broadhurst, MZLS, IPO Pang Shenjun, Skinner Clouse Group, and our membership sponsor Thomas H. Curran Associates.

Wednesday 26th June

We kicked off Wednesday with our IR Global ‘drop-in’ session, where attending members had the opportunity to meet with our team. This was followed by a panel discussion on the future of blockchain and investment, hosted by Gravis Law’s Jill Williamson.

The afternoon allowed members to truly take in all that our host city had to offer, with a walking tour of Boston.

In the evening, opening drinks in the Boston Public Library’s Guastavino Room gave members some time to meet and network in a relaxed setting, sponsored by Frazier & Deeter and Kenneth Reich Law.

Thursday 27th June

Thursday marked a day of presentations and networking, beginning with open networking in the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Grand Ballroom Foyer.

In the morning, attendees received a welcome to Boston from our membership sponsor, Thomas H. Curran. They also heard from our founder Tom Wheeler, followed by our first keynote speaker, Michael J. White, who discussed client cultivation, helping attendees tap into new revenue.

After a networking lunch, the afternoon brought an update on all things IR Global from our Head of Digital and Sponsorships, Rachel Finch. Finally, our second keynote speaker, Edith Onderick-Harvey, answered the question: How do you compete with other firms to attract, retain, and develop the best people?

In the evening, attendees enjoyed a luxury networking dinner in the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Grand Ballroom, sponsored by Sanli Pastore & Hill and Paul Beare Ltd.

Friday 28th June

On our final conference day, attendees headed to their designated breakout sessions for the morning to discuss unique challenges and opportunities in their jurisdictions.

Our breakout sponsors began the day with their respective sessions. Barbara R.C. Doherty (Gardiner Roberts LLP) hosted a session exploring ‘The Future of Tax – how do we continue to advise & innovate?’. Meanwhile, Nicole Liguori Micklich (Urso, Liguori & Micklich) presented ‘Joint Pitching – a collaborative approach to pitching and winning clients’. Finally, Joseph DeMarco (DeMarco Law, PLLC) explored internal investigations and dealing with transgressive behaviour.

Later on, attendees headed to their chosen workshop. Our Trusted Partner, Clio, explained how to best navigate burnout & prioritise the well-being of your firm. Alongside this, Trusted Partner the International Succession Planning Association (ISPA) explained how attendees could grow their business transition and succession planning offerings.

The conference was rounded off with a closing drinks reception cruise along the Boston harbour, sponsored by Barnes Roffe. We were treated to beautiful weather and spectacular views of Boston’s skyline.

Saturday 29th June

Many attendees also joined us for an optional excursion to the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum on Saturday. It was a history lesson we’ll certainly never forget!

We hope you had as much fun in Boston as we did! Keep an eye out for some extra post-event content coming your way soon.

Our next event will be our Annual Conference, The Big Picture in Paris this September. A handful of tickets are still available here. We hope to see you there.
