Biography

Mr. Oral R. Dowell is the founder and CEO of Dowell’s Advisory Services Inc. (Dowell’s Advisory). Oral is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB), a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants of America (AICPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) of the AICPA. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, Barbados.

In the past, Oral has worked in the private sector for over 20 years in industries related to data processing with an international airline company and the retail sector with the largest conglomerate of companies in Barbados in the capacity of both Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer respectively.

He has developed a unique skill/discipline for presenting personal financial planning and business-related seminars and workshops for organizations, in-house and the public as a whole both in Barbados and the Caribbean region. He is also one of the few owner-firm members to have made several presentations to ICAB’s membership over the years.

Oral has assisted several medium-sized and large businesses uncover their inefficiencies through their internal controls and business processes that led to a turnaround in their corporate governance approach and financial performance and results.

With an introvert type character, Oral has had the distinct pleasure in being interviewed and featured in the June 2015 issue of the CGMA Magazine (global) discussing the topic “Finding the Extrovert Within” with Senior Editor, Mr. Neil Amato.

Some of his interest lies in travelling abroad for pleasure and cruising to various destinations around the world. Currently, he is working to position the firm to prepare for the large influx of new business from his new relationship with IR Global!
