He obtained his law degree from New Delhi, India and holds a masters degree from London School of Economics specializing in Dispute Resolution.
He has previously worked with Beachcroft LLP (a UK law firm) in the Dispute Resolution Team. He has also worked at Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. for two years in the commercial litigation and arbitration team. He then founded KN Legal in 2011 and is the Managing Partner of his Firm.
He has handled several complex commercial litigations in the last decade wherein he has not only provided strategic advice to the client, but also represented clients before various fora such as High Courts across the country, the Supreme Court of India, various Tribunals and District Courts. Apart from the importance given to the drafting involved, being qualified, he also argues most of his matters himself. He is also very experienced in briefing senior advocates for representation before the Indian Courts. He has partnered with various law firms, advocates throughout the Country so as to provide Pan-India support to his Clients. Due to the wide variety of arbitral disputes being handled by the Firm, the Firm also handles several complex commercial matters involving oil and gas, marine law, infrastructure, real estate etc.
He personally also handles all the arbitration disputes being handled by the Firm and has appeared in several international arbitrations with seats in London, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. As such, he is very well versed with the ICC Rules, LCIA rules, SIAC rules etc. The Firm then provides services right from the invocation of the arbitral proceedings (on many occasions even prior thereto) till the stage of the Award and thereafter till the time the challenge to an Award (if any) is decided, under his active participation and guidance. Strong emphasis and importance is given to the drafting involved in arbitration proceedings, be it a Statement of Claim or filing of evidence in the matter. On most occasions the arbitration matters are also argued by the Firm led by the Managing Partner so as to give the clients a specialised yet cost effective solution for their disputes. His experience in domestic as well as international arbitrations, has also led him to be a member of the Steering Committee of Young MCIA (Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration) which is a platform to give young professionals access to not only a network of international law firms, but also to impart knowledge and skills required for a career in international arbitration.
