She is also a trusted partner for the Consulado General de México, and works closely with the Consulate to provide U.S. immigration law services to the Mexican community. Because of her deep experience and expertise in U.S. immigration, Kalani has been regularly featured on Univision and other major media outlets speaking about visas, citizenship, DACA, and other immigration topics that matter to her global clientele.
As an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Kalani is part of the premier network of U.S. immigration lawyers, and engages regularly with AILA chapters and partners from across Europe and Latin America. Before founding the boutique U.S. immigratoin firm of Hawks Villafranca Law, Kalani served for several years as the managing attorney for the Texas Here to Stay/Texas No Nos Vamos coalition. In this role she helped bring free legal clinics to communities throughout Texas and provided guidance to thousands of immigrants seeking to obtain or renew their DACA status or become U.S. citizens.
Attorney Kalani Hawks Villafranca is bilingual in Spanish and English and has lived and worked in cities across the globe including Mexico City, Madrid, Austin, and New York. She currently lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, David, and their three sons.
