As an attorney, practicing for more than 10 years, Julie has advised high-net-worth individuals and families in matters including divorce and the handling of complex estates.
As the practice has a strong international focus, Julie often advises clients in cross-border matters and is also often asked to advise other law firms at home and abroad seeking advice on the application of international treaties as well as Belgian law in cross-border disputes.
Since 2023, Julie has been a recognised mediator and often appointed by the court or the parties themselves with a view to reaching a negotiated solution, often in an international context and in complex property matters
Julie has built up a special expertise in family law and family property law during her career. After her law studies, she followed several additional training courses, which enables her to assist her clients in the most complex cases. Julie handles divorces, descent cases and inheritance issues, whether or not in an international context. She always puts the interests of her client first and tries to find the appropriate solution for his or her specific needs.
“To achieve a positive result, I take the time to talk to the client. I listen to his or her complaints and together we create a suitable plan of action. When the client has confidence in the collaboration and feels supported, we achieve the best results.
My clients often find themselves in turbulent waters on a family and emotional level. It is therefore necessary to support the client during this difficult period and to bring peace where possible. That is why I find it important to be accessible to my clients. They know that they can reach me when they need advice, even outside office hours.
I am convinced that my clients want two things: strong legal advice and an accessible contact person. My clients are usually wealthy individuals, bankers, doctors or entrepreneurs. It is important that they can contact me when it suits them.
In addition, my clients only benefit from realistic advice. They expect clarity. Based on my years of experience, I advise them on their rights and obligations and point out the possible outcome of legal proceedings, etc. I offer possible solutions, make suggestions and point out the various options the client has.
As a lawyer, it is my job to ensure that the client can make a well-considered decision. Incidentally, it is solely the client who decides which path to follow. It is not up to me to make an ethical judgment.”
