Head of the securities law team at BCF, Gilles Seguin sits as the Vice-Chaiman of the board of BCF Business Law. Renowned as the leading Québec expert in Exempt Market Securities, Mr. Seguin specializes in securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate law. He also has extensive experience in takeover bids, public offerings, and private placements.
His unique expertise and solid experience of some 30 years of practice make him one of the foremost lawyers in his field.
In acquisitions, Gilles Seguin advises foreign companies on Canadian and Quebec regulatory matters. A member of the Quebec Bar since 1982, he was recently called to the Barreau de Paris, which permits him to develop new opportunities for the firm and for his clients. He also assists in the incorporation and organization of companies and advises independent committees in various privatization transactions.
He represents numerous foreign companies in South America, Europe, and the United States as well as wealthy individuals wishing to establish themselves in Canada, and in this regard sees to all legal aspects related to corporate law, financing, and the process involved in obtaining various regulatory approvals and authorizations.
Mr. Seguin sits on the board of directors of numerous public and private agencies and advises various audit and governance committees. A member of the Board of Directors of the French Chamber of Commerce, he also sits on the board of the Private Capital Market Association. He is one of the firm’s two representatives at Meritas, the international law organization.
Gilles Seguin is also active in humanitarian and cultural organizations, including the Fondation de la Maison du Père in Montréal, which helps homeless people.
He is fluent in English and French and proficient in Spanish.
