Dr Arthur Azzopardi obtained his degree as a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2006, and further obtained a Masters Degree in International Maritime Law in 2006. He was admitted to the bar in March 2005 and has been practising law in Malta and Gozo since. He is a member of the Chamber of Advocates (Malta), the International Bar Association, the European Criminal Bar Association as well as a member of the International Criminal Bar.

Arthur has published two theses, namely ‘The Arrest of Ships – A Maltese Perspective’ in 2006 and ‘Contraventions – An Analytical and Comparative Study (Malta, United Kingdom, France and Germany)’ in 2002.

Arthur started his career in law back in 1996 within the Office of the Attorney General for the Republic of Malta, whereby he held positions of Clerk, Senior clerk & Principal officer, and such before serving as a public prosecutor between 2005-2007. Today he is the managing partner and co-founder of his firm Azzopardi, Borg & Associates Advocates, a litigation-oriented law firm having its areas of focus in civil and criminal law, and such since January 2018.

He is a regular contributor, alongside his team to the firm’s ‘From the Bench’ series which is published weekly on the Times of Malta.

Arthur is also a visiting lecturer and examiner for the Criminal Law department within the Faculty of Laws, of the University of Malta.
