Biography

Davison is the Founder and Managing Partner of Kanokanga & Partners, who coordinates all activities in the firm. His practice mostly includes arbitration, aviation, corporate and commercial law, litigation and real estate with particular emphasis on issues relating to inward investment, infrastructure development, compliance, corporate restructuring and procurement.

Davison also has experience in international due diligence, data protection and compliance planning and implementation assistance for international clients in Zimbabwe. He sits on the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal with one other senior lawyer and two High Court Judges. Davison is also a panelist on the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (‘CIETAC’), the Mozambique Arbitration, Conciliation and Mediation Centre (‘CACM’), the South African, Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (‘AFSA’) and the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa) NPC.

Davison also acts as an arbitrator in domestic disputes in Zimbabwe and Rwanda. He is a panelist of the Alternative Dispute Solutions Centre (‘ADSC’), the Commercial Arbitration Centre (‘CAC’), the Law Society of Zimbabwe (‘LSZ’) President’s List and the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (‘KIAC’).

Davison has over 30 years of experience and is listed in the Legal 500: Africa Arbitration Powerlist 2021 as one of the top arbitrators in Africa.  He advises local and international clients on a wide array of complex matters from contractual to corporate matters. Davison is the author of Commercial Arbitration in Zimbabwe (Juta & Co, Cape Town 2020) and the co-author of UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration: A Commentary of the Zimbabwean Arbitration Act [Chapter 7:15] (Juta & Co, Cape Town, 2022). He is a frequent international moot court arbitrator who has served as a panel arbitrator in the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) Pre – Moot for the William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. In 2021 he was appointed as a judge in the first ever International Commercial Arbitration Moot Championship (ICAMC).
