Biography
“Alberto joined the firm as an equity partner in 1998, and today is responsible for its overall development in Asia. Since his joining, Dezan Shira & Associates has grown into a pan-Asian organization with over 300 professionals, 18 subsidiary offices in China, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, and liaison offices in Italy, Germany and the United States. The firm also has established alliance partnerships, with offices in Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.
Mr. Vettoretti actively sits on the boards of various multinational corporations, advises government, chairs international organizations and is a regular guest lecturer at Universities. Alberto serves as Vice Chairman of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, where he previously served as its South China Chapter Chairman, until 2017. He sits on Italy Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) China Board of Directors. Elected as a member of YPO’s (Young President Organization), PRD Chapter, Alberto also currently sits as its Finance Chair.
Alberto acts as International Advisor to the Government of Guangzhou, in recognition of his knowledge on FDI in the region and his continuous help to make the city an even better place for foreign investments, since 2011.
As an avid supporter of business communities and knowledge-sharing, Alberto consistently contributes to Asia Briefing Ltd., the firm’s subsidiary publishing company. Asia-Briefing’s seven publications relate to international trade and doing business in Asia markets, and include: China-Briefing, Vietnam-Briefing, India-Briefing and ASEAN-Briefing among others. Mr. Vettoretti is also a regular guest lecturer at the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari Challenge School, and an expert source commenter for The Financial Times, The South China Morning Post, Il Sole 24 Ore, China Daily and a host of other local and internationally recognized publications.
Alberto Vettoretti was born in Italy, and educated in the U.K., where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Chinese, Economics and Management, at Durham University, and an MBA with a specialization in Chinese law, with Staffordshire University. Alberto has been living in Asia for over 20 years and speaks and writes fluent Mandarin, Italian, English and Spanish.”
